The nonstick surface on this Dr. Oetker muffin pan is truly amazing! When I baked a batch of Krusteaz Almond Poppyseed Muffins, all I had to do was turn the pan over, and all 12 muffins fell cleanly out of the muffin cups. There was no baked on residue, and there were no crumbs left behind. To prepare the pan for baking, all I did was spray on cooking oil, and wipe the pan with a paper towel to remove the excess. The muffins themselves baked perfectly evenly.The muffin cups on this pan are slightly smaller than the ones on my Good Cook 12 Cup Muffin Pan, but the pan is still large enough to held the batter from a standard 17-oz. box of muffin mix. Also, standard baking cup liners, such as Reynolds Baking Cups, still fit the muffin cups. The muffin pan label does NOT say that the pan is dishwasher safe. However, this pan doesn't need to go through the dishwasher, because it comes completely clean with light hand washing.This Dr. Oetker muffin pan comes with a "high top" carrying lid for transporting baked muffins or cupcakes. Slide fasteners click into place to secure the lid at each end of the pan, and there are flip-up handles that allow the pan to be carried like a market basket. The recessed handles lie flat against the lid when not in use.If you're looking for a mini-muffin pan, I highly recommend the Dr. Oekter 24-Cup Muffin Pan, which comes without a carrying lid, but has the same great nonstick surface.

My first experience with Dr. Oetker was with a 24-muffin (mini muffin) pan and I've been using that for more than a year and I love it. So when a friend asked what I wanted for my kitchen as a gift, I chose this 12-cup full-sized muffin tin. It's just as nice as the mini. It's got a nice thickness to it, it feels like a quality pan, and that nonstick surface just keeps on working. Cleaning this pan is about as easy as rinsing it under warm water.Compared to a lot of other tins/pans I've used (Wilton--which RUSTED--to name one) this pan is far superior. I'm really tempted to try some of those silicon pans but I'm paranoid :) I'm not even sure that I like knowing what is in a metal nonstick pan, so I try never to read about the materials. I'll keep my head in the sand, but I'll be eating good muffins while I'm down there.By the way, I just tried making corn muffins with a spoon of strawberry preserves in the middle (pour half of the batter, add the preserves using a mini ice cream scoop, fill to the halfway point or so in the pan with more batter) and they're yummy.Great pan, worth the extra money and that lid, while not necessary is certainly convenient. And considering the cats don't catch *all* of the kitchen mice, maybe it's a better idea than I think.

I came to Dr. Oekter products by way of the terrific Dr. Oekter mini (24) muffin pan, which gives beautiful browning and perfect release with zero warping. This regular (12) muffin pan is perhaps the slightest bit lighter-weight but equal in performance. I use paper liners if I want to decorate the cupcakes/muffins, but not to prevent sticking during baking -- I use just the lightest spray of oil and even sticky, burned-on blobs of stray blueberries wipe off easily.This pan comes with a translucent plastic storage lid with carrying handles; it locks onto the pan and is tall enough to accommodate even big-frosting treats. My only quibbles are that the lid's locks are a little clumsy to unlock and I'm disappointed that this regular-muffin pan and the mini-muffin pan don't share a standard design that would enable the lid to be used interchangeably on both.
